- Photos: When you scan a creature, the photo is sent to our servers for identification. We do not store your photos after processing.
- Device Identifier: We generate an anonymous device ID to manage scan limits and subscriptions. This is not linked to your personal identity.
- Purchase Data: If you subscribe to Insectum Pro, Apple handles all payment processing. We only receive a confirmation of your subscription status.
- Usage Analytics: We collect anonymous usage statistics (e.g., number of scans, features used) to improve the app.
What We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email, or personal contact information
- Location data
- Contacts or address book
- No account or login is required
How We Use Your Data
- To identify creatures from your photos using AI
- To enforce free-tier scan limits
- To verify subscription status
- To improve app performance and features
Third-Party Services
- Google Cloud / Firebase: Hosts our backend services
- Google Gemini: Processes images for creature identification
- Statsig: Anonymous analytics
- Apple StoreKit: Handles in-app purchases
Data Retention
Photos are processed in real-time and not stored on our servers. Scan history is stored locally on your device only.
Children's Privacy
Insectum does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app can be used by children under parental supervision.
